Adopting

When considering adopting a pet, please take the following into consideration.

It can take up to 8 weeks for the dog to overcome inhibitions and trust that their new home is permanent. During that time, a dogs behavior can change considerably. Separation anxiety is a common problem with many adopted pets, though not all rescued dogs.

Make sure that you walk your adopted dog for at least one hour around the neighborhood before entering your house. Then make sure that you enter the house first. You are inviting him into your domain, your pack.

Please consider working with a professional dog trainer to make the transition smoother and easier.  This will create a very stong relationship with you, and your newly adopted dog from the begining.
